DETASAD Taps Trilio to Deliver Self-Service Backup on OpenStack
As our cloud matures, we wanted to provide our customers with a self-service backup solution, so our users could provision backups themselves on our Horizon dashboard while monitoring the backup jobs. In comparison with other file-based backup solutions, TrilioVault is able to recover from the last backup in no time. In a couple of minutes, our users are up and running again.

DETASAD Taps Trilio to Deliver Self-Service Backup on OpenStack
Detecon Al Saudia (DETASAD), a managed ICT services leader in Saudi Arabia, serves a wide range of corporate and government customers with cloud, connectivity, and infrastructure solutions. Since 2011, DETASAD has been at the forefront of cloud innovation in the region, launching the country’s first full-featured cloud platform and later developing an independent, secure enterprise cloud.
To support ongoing digital transformation initiatives across the Kingdom, DETASAD sought a data protection solution that could serve diverse workloads, integrate natively with OpenStack, and enable self-service capabilities for customers.
Delivering Scalable Backup for Modern Cloud Services
As part of their strategy to help customers migrate from traditional IT environments to secure, cloud-enabled infrastructure, DETASAD faced several key requirements:
- Native OpenStack integration to align with their existing architecture
- A self-service interface to empower end users
- Full workload backup and point-in-time restore for improved recovery times
- Support for hybrid and traditional cloud environments
- Cost-effectiveness to meet varied customer budgets
Trilio Chosen for OpenStack-Native, Self-Service Data Protection
DETASAD selected TrilioVault for its cloud-native design and deep integration with OpenStack. The platform enables tenants to back up and restore their environments without relying on manual processes or multiple tools.
Previously, DETASAD’s customers had to restore machines, databases, and backups separately. With TrilioVault, they can now recover entire workloads through a single point-in-time snapshot—accelerating recovery and minimizing downtime.
Self-Service Backup Accelerates Recovery and Lowers Costs
TrilioVault’s tenant-driven approach gives DETASAD’s customers full control of backup and restore operations via the Horizon dashboard. Key benefits include:
- End-to-end workload protection across OpenStack environments
- Streamlined recovery with full point-in-time snapshots
- On-demand backups provisioned by end users
- Faster time to recovery compared to traditional file-based solutions
- Reduced IT overhead and support requests
Cloud-Native Protection for Mission-Critical Workloads
Today, DETASAD protects the majority of OpenStack workloads running in its cloud environment using TrilioVault. The solution enables customers to align with international standards, reduce IT costs, and build resilient, modern cloud platforms across both public and private sectors.
Trilio continues to play a key role in DETASAD’s mission to deliver secure, scalable, and innovative services as part of Saudi Arabia’s broader national transformation initiatives.
